Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-04 · Last updated: 2026-07-04

Signal is a personal awareness, accountability and safety app, built so that by default nothing about you leaves your phone. Sharing is off by default for every feature. When you do turn sharing on, the most specific thing that ever leaves your device is a place name and a coarse area no tighter than 500 metres — never your precise location.

Who we are

Signal is built by Elliot Kelly, trading as Unleashed. For any privacy question or data request, contact privacy@unleashed.vision. As a UK-based developer's app, we act as the data controller under UK GDPR for the processing described below.

What Signal does on your device

What leaves your phone — only if you choose

Sharing is OFF by default for every feature. If you turn sharing on (which requires confirming you are 18 or older and giving explicit consent):

Legal basis (UK GDPR): your explicit consent, given through the in-app age-gate and consent screen, which you can withdraw at any time (see Your controls). Processing is on-device by default and limited to the features above (data minimisation).

Emergency / SOS

Signal never automatically dials emergency services. Calling 999 (or your local emergency number) only happens when you tap the call button yourself — there is exactly one place in the app that can place that call, and it never fires on its own. If you raise an SOS, the people you've chosen are alerted with your derived status and, if you allow it, a coarse area name — never a precise location.

Third parties

Signal contains no advertising, attribution, or cross-app tracking SDKs. Our relay runs on infrastructure we operate; it stores only end-to-end-encrypted ciphertext it cannot read, purely as transport, for the short retention windows below.

Tracking

Signal does not track you across other companies' apps or websites and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).

How long we keep things

Your data rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Your controls

Age

Signal is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. A family/minor tier may come later; for now, under-18 use is not permitted, and there is no override path for the age-gate.

Children

Signal is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18.

Changes

We will update this policy as Signal evolves and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
